The MTR-0142 is the Glentek AC brushless axis motor used on Fadal VMCs running 8192 line metric ballscrews. It pairs with the AMP-0040 and AMP-0040C amplifiers. When an axis loses position, drifts, or won't hold under load, a failing motor encoder or Hall sensor is a common cause that gets mistaken for an amplifier fault.
Specifications ▼
Encoder Line Count
8192 line, AC brushless
Ballscrew Type
Metric pitch
Amplifier Compatibility
Glentek AMP-0040, digital AMP-0040C
Fault Codes ▼
Fault Code 1
"No motor feedback," which appears on power up if no motor feedback (resolver or encoder) or no motor motion is detected by the axis controller.
Fault Code 18
"Servo amplifier fault line down," meaning the axis card no longer detects the fault line signal from the amplifier, or the signal strength drops below 10V.
Amplifier LED Indicators
Below the amplifier's 10-pin connector are three LEDs: Hall Error, Encoder Error, and Index. If either error LED lights up, the motor is the likely fault, not the amplifier.

If the motor tests fine but the axis still misbehaves, check the amplifier next. See the analog AMP-0040 or its digital replacement AMP-0040C. If all three axes on the same chassis are failing, you may need the full AMP-0028 chassis assembly instead.
