The MTR-0282 is a Baldor 15HP spindle motor built to replace five legacy Fadal motor numbers with a single part: MTR-0046, MTR-0101, MTR-0109, MTR-0110, and MTR-0147. When the spindle won't hold RPM, chatters under load, or the load meter pegs and pulsates instead of reading steady, motor encoder degradation is a common and often overlooked cause. This is a new, complete motor. It is not a rebuild or a repair.

Fault Code 9

"Spindle fault line down," which appears when the fault line to the inverter stays low during spindle operation.

Fault Code 10

"Encoder and magnet not responding," which appears when no proper spindle feedback response is detected for longer than 3 seconds. Often a motor encoder issue, not a drive issue.

Encoder Dropout Often Misdiagnosed As A Bad Drive

A degrading motor encoder can cause the spindle drive to miscalculate current and overdrive the motor. The load meter pegging or pulsating, along with unstable RPM, points to the encoder rather than the drive. This gets misdiagnosed as a bad drive more often than it should.
